It's Finally Here!

Well, its New Years Eve and instead of being out celebrating, I am home packing and getting prepared for my trip. Tomorrow around noon I will leave Tampa to drive down to Miami, where I will be spending the night. My flight for Ecuador leaves at 7:30 am Monday morning.

I am filled with a wide range of emotions, mostly excitement and anticipation. A good part of me is nervous, not really for my safety, but rather just nervous for the experience of the trip. Three months is a long time to spend in a third world country that speaks a language that you do not. I know I will get the chance to see some amazing and beautiful things, but I also know that there will be some sadness and heartache associated with the poverty of the nation as well. In the end though, it will be all of these things that will allow me to get the most out of the trip and fully appreciate the experience.

I am not sure exactly how often I will be able to access the internet, but I will try and keep this updated with all of my stories, and hopefully get some pictures on here as well.

I must get back to my packing now....
